Announcing our first Call For Software Projects

Could your research work benefit from assistance or expertise to improve its long-term sustainability and reusability?

If you're a UK-based audio/music researcher and you have a project like this, we'd love to hear from you!

We'd like to hear from researchers, working on software projects in the audio and music field, who feel their work would benefit from assistance or expertise in order to improve its long-term sustainability and reusability.

We're interested in:

Software developed by you or your group that you want to improve the sustainability of
Draft or prototype software that you would like to make more widely available (e.g. taking MATLAB code to native plugins or applications)
Research work comprising software, data, and potential paper publications, that you feel could become truly reproducible research with some assistance or advice
Software from other researchers, that you wish to use in your own work but that is difficult to get going

SoundSoftware 2014: Videos now available!

The SoundSoftware 2014 workshop, our third annual workshop on software and data in audio and music research, was just as enjoyable as the previous two. Because so much research in this field ends up being expressed through software, a software workshop turns out to be all about the means by which research becomes useful and relevant to people other than the original researchers—fertile ground for interesting and thought-provoking talks.

Our third annual one-day workshop on Software and Data for Audio and Music Research takes place on the 8th of July 2014 at Queen Mary, University of London. The workshop includes talks on issues such as robust software development for audio and music research, reproducible research in general, management of research data, and open access.
